Isaac Witty

A native of Tulsa, comedian Isaac Witty spent several years in Minneapolis before moving to New York and eventually Los Angeles. "The comedy scene is really good in Minneapolis," he explains. "When I was in Tulsa, I knew I wanted to do comedy, but I didn't want to go to L.A. or New York because I wasn't even close to ready, and Minneapolis was the perfect in-between place to go." "I describe myself as an observational comic," says Witty, "but I'm more self-observational. I pretty much talk about myself; the situations I put myself into. It's always about myself, human interactions that are awkward." They can go back quite a ways. "Remember back in middle school, the gym teacher would say, 'Okay, everybody get into groups of two,'" he asks an audience. "Some people couldn't find a partner, so they had to settle for who was left. I think that's how I'm going to get married. 'Here's your soul mate. Yeah, she's equally disappointed.'" Witty also dispenses travel advice. "If you ever go to the Middle East, don't make the mistake I did and use the maps in the back of your Bible to get around. Those are way out of date."
