Tulsa native and Twin Cities transplant Isaac Witty keeps it clean. The son of Christian sketch-comedy performers, Witty started doing standup at age 16 and doesn't swear onstage, nor does he delve into the carnal or scatological. "I've always said, half seriously—and it is half completely serious—that me keeping it clean onstage is the only thing I've ever done to make my parents happy. That's something I'll always do as a gift to them. But I don't do it begrudgingly. I like writing with rules and parameters." It works. Not unlike the great Brian Regan, Witty can run all the way through a laugh-packed headlining set before you even realize the whole act is suitable for network TV—for David Letterman, specifically, who has featured Witty on his show. The man with the self-described "comedy-ready name" has also appeared on Comedy Central's Premium Blend, the Bob and Tom Show, and A Prairie Home Companion, as well as hosted The Big Bad Movie on Minneapolis's KTSP. He's a master of timing, not just hitting punchlines but playing pauses and silence for big laughs, armed with a seemingly bottomless arsenal of precisely worded jokes that is on display in his CD, Zero Balance (Rooftop Comedy). 18+.
