Insights 2010 Design Lecture Series: Irma Boom
This will be the third talk in the Insights 2010 Design Lecture Series. Amsterdam-based artist Irma Boom is a precocious designer, to say the least: She is the youngest laureate to receive the Gutenberg Prize for her work. Since founding her practice in 1991, her innovative efforts have brought those familiar with her work to re-evaluate books. Through experiments in typography, binding, paper, and vibrant color, she has caught the eye of many. Her prize-winning book on Sheila Hicks, Weaving as a Metaphor, was awarded the honor of "The Most Beautiful Book in the World" at the Leipzig Book Fair. Tonight she will shed light on her work both past and present.
