IFP MN 20th Anniversary Gala
IFP Minnesota is an organization that aspires to nurture emerging local artists. This includes screenwriters, filmmakers, photographers, and video artists. It makes sense, then, that this fundraiser and anniversary celebration will feature lots of film viewings. Hosted at the Varsity Theater in Dinkytown, the night will include a screening of The Egg Hunter, a film by Emily Haddad. It is the first project produced under the Fresh Filmmaker production grant. In addition, screenwriter Jeffrey Hatcher (The Dutchess) will be interviewed onstage by Mystery Science Theater 3000 writer-performer Bill Corbett. Afterward, budding teenage filmmakers will show their work and answer questions. Robyne Robinson plays host while columnist Nick Coleman works the auction. Throw in some cocktails, as well as live music by Willie Murphy and the Angel Headed Hipsters, and pianist John Sims, and you have a very full, very cinematic night. Call 651.644.1912 for tickets.
