1971's "Hot Pants (She Got to Use What She Got to Get What She Wants)" was one of several immortal singles from James Brown's early '70s run of heavy, J.B.'s-era classics. The same funk factory cranked out Vicki Anderson's saucy "I'm Too Tough for Mr. Big Stuff (Hot Pants)" the same year, and by the end of '72 you could cram a jukebox full-to-bursting with "Hot Pants" singles by everyone from the Dramatics ("Hot Pants in the Summertime") to Bobby Byrd ("Hot Pants - I'm Coming, I'm Coming, I'm Coming") to Young-Holt Unlimited (just plain old "Hot Pants"). So a DJ night called Hot Pants should give you a good idea of the itinerary just from the name alone -- a late '60s/early '70s sweet spot heavy on the best in vintage funk, soul and boogaloo. But this night skews towards cratedigger rarities; the titular 45 might come from the likes of the 20th Century or Carleen & the Groovers rather than the Godfather and his funky People. No matter if you don't know the words, though -- you'll definitely know the steps.
