Hot Club of Cowtown
After a couple of years off to mend the fences on the back 40, or something, the original Hot Club of Cowtown trio is back with its ferociously swinging sagebrush versions of Gypsy jazz, vintage pop, folk, and Western swing. Guitarist Whit Smith, fiddler Elana James (formerly Fremerman), and string bassist Jake Erwin are equally adept at evoking the Parisian realm of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli and the wide-open spaces of Bob Wills. The group promises a batch of new originals to add to the mix, which may be out on a new disc as soon as this fall. $20 at 7 p.m.; $15 at 9:30 p.m.
Thursdays, Fridays. Starts: July 17. Continues through July 18, 2008
