Home for the Holidays Showcase

Acme is keeping it all in the family this week with the Home for the Holidays Showcase, featuring locally grown comics Andy Erikson, Paul Lakamp, Amber Preston, and Tommy Ryman. Expect plenty of pontificating on the holiday season. "The true meaning of Christmas is different for everyone," says airy-voiced one-liner comic Erikson. "It's about wearing new jeans and making sure Grandma doesn't get too drunk. It's about pretending nobody knows that your cousin is gay, but not caring either way, because he is our friend. And isn't that just beautiful?" Preston (pictured), who recently opened for Norm Macdonald, says she has specific plans for her Thursday and Friday off: "I'll be drinking Mogen David wine with my extended family in Bismarck, North Dakota, just like baby Jesus did with his uncles on his mother's side at the very first Christmas." The wry, almost relentlessly good-natured Ryman, meanwhile, recalls his favorite Christmas memory, which was "when my sister was 13 and didn't get exactly what she wanted and was super bitchy about it. The great thing was we got it on video, so we can enjoy that Christmas over and over and over." 18+.
