"Home" is a surprisingly fluid word, in that its meaning can change drastically from person to person. It can be a state of mind, or a material location. It can be tied to the past as a remembrance of a place far away, or one that no longer exists. It can be in the present, felt in a moment of contentedness. Sometimes, its meaning even travels to the future, thriving as something to achieve, a goal to be reached either physically, financially, or emotionally. The ever-changing definition of the word will be explored in Altered Esthetics' group show, which includes works by over 50 artists. The mediums used will be as varied as the interpretations, ranging from video installation to paintings to photography to etchings. There will be an opening reception this weekend, featuring music from Greg Brosofske, from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, September 2. There will also be an artists' discussion panel at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 17. (Sarah Fowler, ReConstructing Home)
