HIstory of Hip: Design

Funny how we sometimes use the past to make things look "new." Though the 1950s was some half a century ago, the era lives on aesthetically, often managing to attract hipsters who have only read about the era in textbooks and seen it in the movies. As part of a lecture series hosted by the Minnesota Historical Society, collector and historian Richard Blue will discuss key designers and visual queues that created "the look" of the '50s. Charlie Lazor, co-founder of blue dot furniture and founder of Lazor Office (which constructs modern prefab houses) will discuss and show how elements of the decade still echo in design influences of today. 21+.
