Harriet Brewing One Year Anniversary Bash

As is the case with many homebrewers, Jason Sowards's love of the craft began humbly in the sanctity of his garage, the place where many practitioners daydream about opening their own brewery. Recently, when Minneapolis loosened its tightly clenched growler laws, the road was paved for Sowards to live the dream. Last year, the former chemical engineer opened Harriet Brewing in a Longfellow neighborhood warehouse—the first new brewery to open in Minneapolis in nearly a decade. There is a collective, good-kind-of-hippie vibe at Harriet Brewing; it even has a resident artist, Jesse Brodd, creating psychedelic artwork on its labels. This fresh spirit will be well represented at its anniversary bash featuring 12 dedicated taps—including several rare brews—as well as artwork, storytelling, aerialists, and live music by Jazz Band Super Combo, i like you, and others. 21+. $8/$10 at the door. 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. 2027 E. Franklin Ave., Minneapolis; 612.338.3000.
