Grumpy's Death Comedy Jam 10th Anniversary Celebration
This Wednesday, Grumpy's Death Comedy Jam celebrates 10 years with an epic marathon of humor. What does that entail? Well, from lunchtime to happy hour to last call, someone will be onstage trying to make you laugh. The weekly open-mic night has a reputation as one of the toughest in town, and in the early years folks were ushered onstage by the Grim Reaper. But those who have survived their sets have found the experience rewarding, and the happening is a popular material-testing ground for emerging standups, locals made good (Maria Bamford has been known to stop by), and stars in town to perform at Acme, including Tig Notaro, Paul F. Tompkins, and Daniel Tosh. Sir Ian McKellen even took in a show. Chris Maddock, who has hosted the evening since 2003, will keep the 15-hour event going strong until bar close.
