Green & Fair Trade Gifts Fair
Does your disinfecting cleaner emit cancer-causing toxins? Is there lead in your child's favorite toy? It's becoming less and less of a secret that we live in a toxic world. That said, with mandated recycling programs, stricter emission standards, and a growing public interest in foods that are pesticide-free, it's pretty safe to say that people are concerned about our growing legacy of pollution. That's the general idea behind Saturday's Green & Fair Trade Gifts Fair at Macalester College. Those both community- and environmentally minded will find over 25 vendors peddling green gifts and products, including clothing, toys, jewelry, and food. Workshops, demonstrations, and food tastings include local fair-trade coffeemakers Peace Coffee, art projects, recipe ideas, and more. Live music rounds out the event. Who needs that polyvinyl shower curtain anyway? For more information visit www.doitgreen.org or call 612.345.7973.
