Come support northeast Minneapolis's artist collective Rosalux Gallery this weekend at Green, a fundraiser where you can buy a raffle ticket for a chance to win original artwork by participating artists. Green began as a fun way to help Rosalux cover their overhead, so they could keep membership dues at a reasonable level for their collective members. "We decided to call it Green, as in the color of money, to be upfront about what it is all about," says Terrence Payne, gallery member and founder. A few years ago, they stopped holding the fundraiser, as they didn't need to raise the extra money for the gallery anymore. "I kept hearing from people asking when we would be doing Green again, and wondering why we had stopped doing it. So we decided to bring it back last year to celebrate our 10th anniversary as a collective." Green turned out to be a great way for people who normally can't afford a lot of artwork to participate in the raffle, which costs $5 a ticket. "It's a really nice way for us to say 'thank you' to those people who come to all the shows and have supported the gallery by giving them a chance to collect our artists' work, which they might not be able to afford otherwise," he says. The party starts at 7 p.m., with the drawing for raffled artwork beginning promptly at 10 p.m. If you can't make it to the actual event, you can still buy a raffle ticket by visiting rosaluxgallery.bigcartel.com.
