Grand Old Day

Now in its 37th year, Grand Old Day is a summer tradition that stretches down one of St. Paul's main drags. It includes as much as you'd expect from a 20-block block party. Broken into four districts—family fun, sporting, entertainment, and art—it hits all the major festival points, including parades, concerts, a morning race, and an art crawl. Local art cars will convene in the art district, where the Walker and MNArtists will hold a "Drawing Club," giving participants a hand in collaboratively created pieces; the kids' area boasts pony rides and a petting zoo; and the sporting district will hold walks, runs, jogs, and skates throughout the morning. The entertainment district's $10 admission fee gains access to bands on seven stages—including a City Pages stage—with performances from First Communion Afterparty, Jeremy Messersmith, Doomtree, Mark Mallman, and Zoo Animal.
