Gamut Gallery is a new venue that describes itself as "a place that showcases art of the happening" by presenting collaborative works that run a gamut of mediums and media. This weekend, local dance artist Judith Howard — who's been making work for more than 20 years, and embraces art of the moment such as scissoring off her own hair during a performance — presents "Gold Press." Howard created the performance in dialogue with a show of new prints by Ash Marlene Hane, currently on view at Gamut, titled "Conditions." Hane's work presents the female body — in numerous iterations — under duress, which may be communicated via a smear of red or slash of color silencing the mouth. Along with stellar performers Krista Langberg and Kristin Van Loon, Howard kinetically interprets Hane's work using gesture and crinkly gold fabric. Which, given Howard's past work, may be nothing short of a revelation.
