Gods and Monsters 4: The Return of the Unholy Terror
It wouldn't be Halloween in the Twin Cities arts community without a horror-themed show from Cult Status Gallery. Curated by artist Nate Vincent Szklarski, "Gods and Monsters 4: The Return of the Unholy Terror" features the work of more than 75 artists. Saturday night's opening party will boast over 100 pieces, so expect to see the space's two levels packed with images reveling in gory, spooky, stomach-turning, and psychologically terrifying concepts. Participants were invited to explore horror in cinema, and the resulting art demonstrates how truly varied the genre can be, from the classic monsters of the silent-film era, to the iconic films of Alfred Hitchock, to bombastic B-movies, to the shock and gore of '70s slasher flicks, to the beautifully creepy aesthetics of Tim Burton. Surely you'll find something this evening to haunt your dreams. The opening reception is from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, October 27. Gallery hours are by appointment only.
