Go Fest '16 Featuring Miike Snow

July 30
7 p.m.
Alternative, Electro Pop, Indie Pop, Rock

Following last year’s lineup of Matt and Kim, Cold War Kids, Yelawolf, Allan Kingdom, and others, this year’s Go Fest will bring out fewer acts, but that shouldn’t be taken as a sign of lesser quality. Headlining is Miike Snow, the Stockholm indie-pop trio that grew out of Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg’s production work as Bloodshy & Avant (Madonna, Britney Spears, Christina Milian). On their third and latest album, iii, they bring both undeniably catchy songwriting (as featured on bona fide hit “Genghis Khan,” which explores the nature of sexual jealousy) and musical experimentation (see: the hip-hop rhythms on “Heart Is Full” and “Back of the Car”). Support comes from the explosive dance-pop of Los Angeles-via-Seattle musician Robert DeLong, as well as JR JR, the Detroit pop and electronic duo that broke through last year with their partly whistled single “Gone.” Also performing is local act Denny, the high-powered Minneapolis electronic rockers set to sustain the momentum of their three intriguing singles.
