Gabba Gabba One of Us
This month, painters Mary Gibney and Noah Harmon will be displaying their work at One on One Bicycle Studio in a show titled "Gabba Gabba One of Us." The exhibition features images of faces, animals, and outsiders. Gibney paints colorful portraits based on Speed Graphic-era photos and archival materials, interpreting vintage medical illustrations, sideshow characters, mugshots, nightclub performers, R&B and rock 'n' roll musicians, hockey brawlers, Negro League baseball stars, body builders, and policemen, criminals, and bystanders from Twin Cities arrest scenes of the 1950s and '60s. Noah Harmon's work is informed by pop culture, television, and the supernatural. There will be an opening reception from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, December 1.
