Funniest Person in the Twin Cities Finals

Sure, you're pretty funny when you're drinking with your friends on the porch, but can you actually make audiences laugh as you perform onstage? This is the test that entrants in Acme's yearly contest must face. When the event began 18 years ago, 20 people competed over four weeks. This year 200 novice funny men and ladies told their best stories, punch lines, and zingers in three-minute sets. And though there are no pros competing, these newbies are hardly green—many have perfected their delivery and style by traveling the ever-expanding open mic circuit around town, from Acme to the Joke Joint to Rick Bronson's to Comedy Corner. The contest is now down to a mere five contestants, and hopefully the evening will feature their funniest stuff. The evening is headlined by Bengt Washburn. 18+.
