Let’s be real: 2016 has been pretty messed up. Between senseless acts of violence, the passing of cultural icons, and the batshittiness of the election, the majority of people are ready to just plow through this month and get on to the new year. To help give 2016 a proper farewell, Rana May and Drew Janda will host Fuck 2016, a comedy roast of the past 12 months at Turf Club. During a night advertised as full of “laughing, crying, and trying to move the fuck on,” May and Janda will give the past 365-day period the absolute beating it deserves, all while trying to laugh at some of the sheer horror we’ve been exposed to this year. DJ Papersleeves will also spin jams from the musical legends we lost in 2016. Whether they’re covering serious topics that changed the way we act as a society or examining who thought we needed a second Bad Santa movie, this night will be a nostalgic trip through the saddest, strangest, and most cringe-worthy moments. One bright spot is that the event will serve as a fundraiser for Hunger Solutions Minnesota, helping to feed those in need. You can’t escape your past, but you can laugh right in its face this week before starting fresh in 2017. 21+.
