Free First Saturday: The Big Screen
Remember back when all the networks aired Saturday-morning cartoons? At this installment of the Walker Art Center's Free First Saturday, folks will be able to enjoy Saturday-morning 'toons of a higher caliber from around the world. The family-friendly happening will boast screenings at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., with whimsical, colorful, and eye-catching shorts from Germany, Spain, Poland, Croatia, Russia, and Norway. Kids can also help create an animated short film with John Akre in his stop-motion animation studio, or make a puppet and help present a show onstage. Not a kid, but a kid at heart? Grown-up guests can take in a screening, then make their way upstairs to Gather by D'Amico, which serves cocktails and a killer lunch. (Pictured: Bombus Confusus)
