Franklin Art Works Closing Party
It's been a great run in a cool location, but after more than 140 exhibitions, Franklin Art Works is moving out of the beautiful, historic movie-theater space it has called home for the past 13 years. The organization specializes in solo shows from regional and national artists, and was an early trendsetter years ago for hosting its gallery events in an unexpected venue. The closing party for its two current shows will also serve as a farewell party for the space. Guests will be able to check out work from Demetrius Oliver, who has created a video installation inspired by the star Sirius, and large-scale paintings by Njideka Akunyili. Although Franklin Art Works will be moving out of the Franklin Avenue space, it will also be moving on. Though no official announcements have been made yet, director Tim Peterson says the the gallery will be relocating soon.
