Fourth of July Celebrations
This week, Canterbury Park will be ramping up to the big holiday weekend with special activities, additional hours, and freebies. The gates will be open Wednesday starting at 2:30 p.m., with the first race scheduled for 4 p.m. Live music will entertain guests leading up to the fireworks, which will brighten the sky at 10 p.m. Thursday's special festivities will be dog-themed, with free hot dogs to snack on, a hot-dog eating contest, and a race featuring wiener dogs (the big Wiener Dog Wars run will take place later this summer on Labor Day). The Fourth will also feature special family activities, with free pony rides, a petting zoo, and face paintings. The final race will feature children running on the track, hopefully bringing a smile to even the coldest gambling man at the park that day.
Wed., July 3, 4 p.m.; Thu., July 4, 1:30 p.m., 2013
