Found Footage Festival: Volume 6
If you've ever watched a training video warning you about the evils of sexual harassment in the workplace, an infomercial for a product that's more likely to melt your face than open up your pores, or a DIY music video from an aspiring "local artist" that looks like it was made in a mall, then you've had a taste of the Found Footage Festival. Founders Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher, who launched the fest in 2004, have traveled the globe finding the most awesomely terrible videos at garage sales, thrift stores, and even Dumpsters, and put them together into 90-minute packages of pure magic. This week, Pickett and Prueher will bring their unintentionally hilarious VHS circus to the Heights Theater for a special one-night-only screening of the Found Footage Festival: Volume 6. Despite churning out five previous editions, the curators promise an all-new lineup of weird and funny footage, including a 1996 ferret-care video found in Minnesota just last year. With past appearances on Jimmy Kimmel Live and G4's Attack of the Show, it's safe to say this spectacle of cinema will sell out pretty quickly, as train-wreck aficionados of all kinds will be gathering for the strangest and most entertaining low-budget video screening seen since your first day of work as a 16-year-old dishwasher.
