Formed By Nature
Some people say that nature is the world's greatest artist. So it should be interesting to see what happens when creative mortals take on such an informed teacher as their muse. For Altered Esthetics' latest group show, "Formed by Nature," participants were asked to eschew synthetic materials and toxic chemicals to create Earth-friendly pieces. The resulting works have been made with organic supplies, natural dyes, wood, bone, and even grass. Some pieces include feathers or found objects, while others mimic elements found in the great outdoors, such as weather erosion. There will be an opening reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 4, and an artists' discussion panel at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 12. (Amber White, Untitled)
