For the latest group show at Altered Esthetics, 30 artists will explore a simple but loaded word: "food." Food supports billion-dollar industries, political campaigns, and economic policies. Food shortages throw impoverished countries into turmoil, while overabundance creates health crises. "Food Fight" will feature a variety of pieces examining this complicated topic, such as Steven Lang's photography of buffet overindulgences, Lee Bowen's sculptures featuring cow parts typically left unconsumed, and Kevin Cannon's parody/critique of a typical O cover. Whether you walk away hungry, disgusted, or disillusioned after viewing the exhibition, you will definitely have something to talk about over dinner. The opening reception is from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, November 4. There will also be an artists' discussion panel at 3 p.m. Saturday, November 19. (Steven Lang, Teppanyaki Grill)
