Each year, Canterbury Park celebrates the Fourth of July with family activities, free food, and a massive amount of explosives. This year will be no different, as two days are to be filled with special happenings. On Sunday, guests will be betting on horses starting at the 4 p.m. post time. Meanwhile, little ones will be entertained with face painting, a petting zoo, and pony rides. As the sun sets, Tim Mahoney will play tunes, followed by the huge fireworks display at 10 p.m. The following day, gullets will be filled with free hot dogs, and a wiener dog warm-up race – not to be confused with the epic September dachshund races – will take place.
