As fans of puppy cams, cuteoverload.com, and blogs by obsessive cat owners know, our culture currently has a heightened affection for cuteness. Why? A recent Vanity Fair article postulated that, much like we hunger for comfort food, humans desire to gaze upon adorable things as a coping method during grim times. Others argue that we have always had a genetic predisposition to loving miniatures and that we're just more vocal about it nowadays. Some will say it's just not that deep. Regardless of your opinions on the phenomenon, the Minnesota Zoo is overflowing with baby animals that will make you pop a Zyrtec, then go "Aw!" This April there will be plenty of baby bunnies, ducklings, calves, chicks, piglets, and other dew-eyed fuzzy things hopping, scooting, and wobbling around. The farm babies section of the zoo will be even more kid-friendly this weekend; there will be hands-on activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, as well as a visit from Peter Rabbit on Saturday.
