Part Free First Saturday, part Fourth of July celebration, the event this Saturday at Walker Art Center welcomes Minnesotans of all ages to enjoy the beauty of the Sculpture Garden. Decorate your bikes beforehand and ride them down to the Spoonbridge and Cherry at noon to participate in the Art Bike Parade. Prizes will be awarded to those with the snazziest bike. Families can stop by the WAC Garden Cart to pick up a garden pack loaded with hands-on activities and information to lead groups on a self-guided tour throughout the garden. Art projects will encourage kids to play with their food (in a good way). Children can make spin art using paint, paper, and a salad spinner, or create a tasty sculpture with Second Harvest Heartland. They can also burn off that extra energy at the hula-hoop workshops, or relax while enjoying performances on the main stage by world musicians Sumunar Gamelan Ensemble, indie-folk songstress Haley Bonar, and Ghanaian hip-hop musician M.anifest.
Sat., July 4, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., 2009
