Fall Out Boy

After showing up with great singles like 2003's Warped Tour favorite "Saturday," Illinois pop-punk band Fall Out Boy connected nationally in '05 with "Sugar, We're Goin Down." They stayed one of our most commercially viable young bands for the next few years on the heels of "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" and "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs." By the end of '09, the band was on hiatus after select members chased down other creative ideas — frontman Patrick Stump with his LP Soul Punk, divisive bassist Pete Wentz as one half of electronic duo Black Cards. FOB returned this year with fifth outing Save Rock and Roll. The thing might boast a confusing lineup of guests — Big Sean, Courtney Love, Elton John — but more importantly, there's plenty of melodic color and Stump's capable whine to go around.
