EVENT CHANGED: Piper at the Gates of Oz
NOTE: Due to licensing issues, The Wizard of Oz will not be screened at this event. There will still be music and lasers. It's probably one of the more trippy bits of music lore out there. Over the years, college students, music heads, and stoners alike have been playing The Wizard of Oz with Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon. Why? Because rumor has it that the band intentionally synced up bits of the album with the cinema classic. Though the British rockers have laughed off and denied the that the piece plays off of the film, there are enough coincidences to keep audiences intrigued, from the sound explosion when the wicked witch first enters the frame, to the eerie silence followed by "Money" as Dorothy opens the door and steps onto the yellow brick road, to the beating heart as she listens to the Tin Man's chest. You can decide for yourself whether it's fact or fiction this Saturday, as Pink Floyd tribute band Momentary Lapse of Floyd will be on hand to play the album live during a screening of the film. Oh, and there will be lasers. Prepare to have your mind blown (or at least be bemusedly entertained).
