Even If We Never Look Forward
This weekend brings the latest theatrical project from the creators of The Thing, the abstract performance piece that made a splash last year at the former 1419 space. The new work, titled even if we never look forward, explores how we imagine our futures, and promises to be visually rich, strange, and funny, using such objects as fruit, vegetables, and Windex, along with a plastic trophy. Set to music ranging from pop to hip hop, with one sequence featuring a song from the local band Dark Dark Dark, the piece is non-narrative and fragmentary, much like The Thing. It's an image-based work, and uses a bright color palette with moments of moodiness, according to George McConnell, one of the "editors" of the show along with Samantha Johns. The rest of the ensemble includes Lauren Anderson, Jon Mac Cole, Paige Collette, Tera Kilbride, Colleen Lamb, Tom Lloyd, and Billy Mullaney. Many of the showings have sold out, but they have added a performance at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, May 27, for which tickets are still available. For reservations and more information, including the location of the performance, email [email protected] or call 612.385.6298.
