Ethnic Dance Theatre: 40th Anniversary
Ethnic Dance Theatre features dances from the people, by the people, and for the people. This 40th anniversary concert reprises works from each decade of the company's repertory of traditional dances from around the world. Highlights include the "Dance of the Silk Ribbons" from China, and artistic director Donald La Course's "Appalachian Barn Dance." EDT's 21 vibrant dancers and orchestra will be joined by vocalist Natalie Nowytski and MILA Vocal Ensemble, and samples from the company's authentic costume collection will be modeled in the lobby at intermission. There will be a talk-back after the show on Friday. Prior to the Sunday matinee, there will be a family-day package that includes a dance workshop with EDT alumni teacher Christopher Yaeger, and a costumed meet-and-greet. It's a total immersion experience.
June 27-28, 7:30 p.m.; Sun., June 29, 2 p.m., 2014
