Erin Sayer:Everything All Together
It has been an eventful three years for Cult Status Gallery. The space has hosted a slew of fun exhibitions, including an art party that offered confection-inspired pieces and live cake decorating, a yearly group show that paid homage to iconic figures in horror, a poster show for awesome movies that never existed, and an event that celebrated low-brow art. Like any good art organization, Cult Status faced controversy: Early on, graffiti artist Deuce Seven's exterior mural received anonymous complaints from neighbors, and it was eventually painted over. Recently, gallery owner Erin Sayer announced that the space will be going on a hiatus in April, but will hopefully reopen in a new location in July. To celebrate, there will be one final bash. On display will be over 100 paintings by Sayer, including some new pieces inspired by characters in Tom Robbins novels. The opening reception will be from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday, March 9.
