Dwight York tells jokes onstage. That may seem obvious, but for York there are no long, drawn-out premises. Indeed, when he takes the mic he often says to the audience, "I hope you like jokes." Then it's on to rapid-fire one-liners from the viewpoint of the slightly confused character that he has delicately cultivated over the years. "I was homeless for a while. But I didn't want anyone to know, so I slept in front of a Ticketmaster." He makes it look easy, but it is, in fact, a lot of work. "To add a new joke to my act is not as common as I'd like it to be," he admits. "I only replace jokes that stop working. I've spent the last 20 years putting together the best jokes I can." He estimates that 85 percent of a given audience has never seen him perform. "Every show I do, it matters that I do my absolute very best." 18+; 21+ later shows.
Wednesdays-Sundays, 8 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 10:30 p.m. Starts: March 31. Continues through April 4, 2010
