Doug Benson, famous for his marijuana-influenced humor, comes to town to do one sold-out standup set at the Acme Comedy Co. on Thursday at 10:30 p.m. (the hilarious Daniel Koren headlines the rest of the week). Benson will also record an episode of his popular podcast, Doug Loves Movies
, this Saturday at 4:20 p.m. (get it?) at the Woman's Club. Once fairly accessible to the press, Benson now eschews interviews. Fortunately, Geoff Tate, a frequent panelist on the show, was able to provide some insight. "I definitely watch more movies since becoming a regular on the show," says Tate from his hometown of Cincinnati. He's on DLM
about once a month. The premise is simple: The panel discusses current movies they've seen, which is followed by the Leonard Maltin Game, in which the guests try to guess a movie based on information found in the famous film critic's annual guide. As with all DLM
tapings, the guests for the Minneapolis recording are a closely guarded secret. "I am not on the Minneapolis show," Tate can confirm, "but I know who is, and it's going to be good. There's at least one person who's local, and they're all hilarious."
