Electric Machete Studios, the powerhouse force of contemporary art from the West Side of St. Paul, teams up with Ce Tempoxcalli for Intermedia Arts’ series “Dimensions of Indigenous & Cultural Identity Politics.” The members of Electric Machete have been pushing the boundaries of how art can intersect with identity through their work. The show features Indigenous artists whose culture originates from both North American and Latin American countries, as they grapple with the impact of colonization on today’s communities, historical trauma, and cultural appropriation. Artists include Gordon Coons, Rebekah Crisanta de Ybarra, and Ashley Fairbanks. The opening reception, which will have snacks, music, and installation performances, coincides with the opening Shá Cage’s new performance piece, #sayhername, and runs from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, November 28.
