McDonald's golden arches. The Grain Belt bottle top. The spread wings on the Pontiac Firebird. Since the dawn of advertising, logos have been used as shorthand for brands, serving as the signature for campaigns both commercial and political. And now there's the logo used throughout the Obama '08 campaign: a blue O, a wave of red and white, the white of the O's center reminiscent of a rising sun. Simple, yet probably highly debated and tweaked before actually being used publically. This Tuesday Sol Sender and Scott Thomas will discuss their process of creating the logo. Also on hand will be posters from the Threadless Loves Democracy competition, which invited artists last year to create nonpartisan designs for posters and T-shirts encouraging people to vote.
