When he's not telling jokes in a comedy club, Daniel Tosh can usually be found riding the waves. Of the two, he'd rather be surfing. "But standup pays much better," he explains, "so like most artists, I go where the money's at." His job takes him away from his home in Hermosa Beach, California, and into clubs around the world. There are some drawbacks to being on the road, of course. "Having to do a lot of morning radio. That's probably the worst," he says. And what's the best part, besides getting to surf in places like Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii? "Coming home. I think it's nice just to see different cities and know that I don't have to live there," he chuckles. Onstage, Tosh has a simple objective. "My goal is to say something that hasn't been said too many times before. I try to make it as weird and absurd as possible. There's not a lot of truth in my standup. My life is boring enough to live, I don't want to retell it every night onstage."
