Crypticon: Circus of Terror

Yeah, we have about a month and a half until Halloween, but that isn't stopping Rob Zombie's Halloween from coming out early, and it definitely isn't stopping Crypticon: Circus of Terror from getting their creep on in September. Hosted last year at the Medina Entertainment Center, this year's convention of all things horror descends into Minneapolis proper at the haunted (okay, probably not) Ramada Inn. Events include screenings and talks with actors and directors of more recent classics such as Friday the 13th, hosted by original killers Ari Lehman and Betsy Palmer; Leatherface (a.k.a. Bill Johnson) at the Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 show (impotent father-figure John Dugan will also be on hand at the fest); and Night of the Living Dead (1990) with Tony Todd (also of Candyman fame). The new Halloween's Hanna R. Hall, and Electra and Elise Avellan, the "crazy babysitter twins" from Grindhouse, will be on hand to talk shop and share their experiences with fans and the cinematically curious. Also lurking behind the lecture stands and vendor booths will be noted special effects artists, including Cryptic Magazine's Troy Holbrook, who will be giving horror makeovers to interested guests, as well as F/X artist demos on creating realistic corpses and using silicone appliances—something Lloyd Kaufman of Troma Films, a studio best known for producing the unabashedly B-loving Toxic Avenger series, is probably intimately familiar with.
