It's rare that one finds a happening claiming to be both crust-punk and family-friendly, but Cranksgiving is such an event. Sunday, folks will meet at Gold Medal Park to pick up manifests suggesting destinations and food to be purchased along the way at various grocery stores and co-ops. Participants can choose their own route; people tend to travel 15 to 20 miles during their adventure. At each stop riders are to use their own cash to pick up any items on the list, and folks can spend however much they are comfortable with. So, someone on a $10 budget can buy boxed dinners and canned goods while folks with more to give can purchase turkeys and bulk items. Some groups will fill up backpacks and bike baskets while others may need to hook up their bike trailer for the afternoon. There will also be fun stops along the way, and prizes will be awarded to those who are the most generous and who bring back the heaviest haul. All proceeds from the event benefit Sisters' Camelot's Thanksgiving meal. Sign up is free, but bring cash for grocery shopping.
