"I'm from Atlanta, so a lot of my early road gigs were one-nighters at shitty bars in Alabama," explains comedian Costaki Economopoulos. Grinding through shows in the often not-so-deep South was a specific kind of challenge for a guy who got into standup directly out of graduate school, where he wrote his thesis on political satire and its effects on perceptions of government. But those early experiences sharpened him, and now Economopoulos, who wryly describes himself as "the biggest name in comedy," is uniquely able to make his witty, astute observations accessible without dulling them. The prolific writer and performer, who is a regular on the Bob and Tom Show where he delivers his weekly installment of the "Economonologues," is erudite but laid-back, turning his quick mind and sharp sense of wordplay on politics, social mores, and his own experiences as a husband and father. When his infant daughter was constipated for two days, causing his wife to panic, Economopoulos tried to calm her down: "What are you freaking out about? We have a baby who does not poop. We win. This is like a seedless watermelon." 18+.
