You might find yourself asking what it is you're looking at in "Everything Is Entrance," on exhibit in the SooVAC's Main Gallery space. That's kind of the point, as Lori Esposito's large-scale drawings are a bit Rorschach test, a bit black-light poster, a bit meditative mandala. "When we don't recognize something, we understand it as being other, mystical, mysterious, transformative," she says. "I'm seeking that for myself." Using oil-based implements such as crayons and pastels, Esposito creates hypnotic works filled with patterns, color, and shapes that explore everyday happenings, mundane gestures, and motion. Meanwhile, in the Front Gallery, Wil Natzel's "Convolutions" also plays with movement in unexpected ways. Here, he will be creating an expansive installation from cardboard designed specifically for the gallery space. The piece will loop about and pay homage to innovative architectural design, and should be a lot of fun. There will be an opening reception for both shows from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 11.
