There are lots of events throughout the year that provide fantasy and sci-fi enthusiasts with the chance to blur the lines between our world and theirs, but there is only one CONvergence. The annual four-day event will once again take place in Bloomington over Fourth of July weekend, and features more panels, parties, and gaming than any other event in Minnesota. This year's theme is modeled after Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Disney animated television show Gargoyles. Some event highlights include the CONvergence Masquerade costume contest, a panel discussion with the creators and cast of Gargoyles, and a gathering titled "Star Wars Episode VII: Hopes, Fears, Predictions," where attendees can wildly speculate about the upcoming Star Wars sequel. There's also an art show, a comic-book swap, a film festival, and late-night theme parties for those looking to keep the fantasy going all night long. Throw on your Wonder Woman costume and start slamming Red Bull; it's going to be a busy weekend. For registration and info, visit www.convergence-con.org. (Photo by Erik Hess)
