Altered Esthetics' latest group show, "Collecting Evidence," examines things and places that have been left behind, undiscovered, or forgotten. This opens up the range of topics and locations explored in the exhibition. The setting of each work is varied, and includes crime scenes, abandoned buildings, and archeological sites. Viewers' reactions to some pieces may shift dramatically once contextualized after reading the back-story accompanying an image. However, quite a few of the things captured have yet to be fully explained, and may spark discussion and intrigue in those who enjoy a good mystery. There will be an opening reception from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 6, with live music from Apartment 12J, and an artists' discussion panel at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 21.
