Bass saxophone innovator Colin Stetson has performed as a touring member of indie-rock icons Bon Iver and Arcade Fire, and favors a similarly expansive approach in his ambient-jazz solo experiments. Over the past decade, Stetson's circular breathing-based technique has resulted in alluringly odd woodwind/saxophone compositions that hold much in common with densely layered electronic music. Stetson's latest album, New History Warfare, Vol. 3: To See More Light, features falsetto vocals from Bon Iver's Justin Vernon that add ethereal eeriness to Stetson's already plenty spooky soundscapes.
