Cocktails at the Castle: Hot Shop Herring Glass Blowout

Thursday night at the American Swedish Institute will feature art creations in the garden. The name for the evening comes from the Swedish tradition hyttsill — which amusingly translates to "hot shop herring" in English — where people gather to dine and drink while artists create glass works in front of them. That's exactly what will happen here, with demonstrations from Swedish artist Fredrik Nielsen. Activities include hands-on glass-art-making activities, and games of kubb (a Swedish lawn game). There will be plenty to eat and drink, of course, with Swedish street food (the press release hints that herring is on the menu), original ice-cream flavors from Pumphouse Creamery, wine, cocktails from FIKA, and beer from Indeed Brewery. Live music is to be provided by Southside Desire and the Golden Bubbles, with special performances by Theater Coup d'Etat. 21+.
