Chutzpah à go-go
David Gale, co-writer of Chutzpah à go-go and the director of this American premiere at Minnesota Jewish Theatre Company, was approached with the idea (with co-creator Randy Vancourt) to write a musical for the Winnipeg Jewish Theatre. What they came up with is set in St. Paul, where the Bubkes Jewish Community Players have arrived on a tour stop just in time to celebrate the centennial anniversary of their hometown of Bubkes, North Dakota. What follows combines history, cultural reflection, and a musical party. This promises to be a unique perspective on the frozen north, telling the stories of those who went from the shtetl to the prairie, with wit and insight.
Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 & 7 p.m. Starts: Feb. 21. Continues through March 15, 2009
