Chris Kluwe, former punter for the Minnesota Vikings, has come out with a new book, Beautifully Unique Sparkleponies: On Myths, Morons, Free Speech, Football, and Assorted Absurdities (Little, Brown and Company). The athlete was launched into fame by his notorious and profanity-laced Deadspin takedown of Maryland state assembly delegate Emmett Burns, defending Ravens linebacker Brendon Avanbadejo's marriage equality stance. Now signed with the Raiders — to the dismay of many a Vikings fan — Kluwe borrows the title of his book from the "clean" version of the letter published in The Pioneer Press. Judging from the highly entertaining diatribes he's penned so far, the work promises to be a diverting read, and at Sunday's reading at the Loft Literary Center you'll be able to hear Kluwe's thoughts on it.
