Are you the type of person who loads up your plate with a little of everything when eating at a buffet? This special evening, curated by Olive Bieringa and Otto Ramstad and featuring Minnesota choreographers, borrows a little bit from this approach. Together, their innovative, interactive work as the BodyCartography Project has garnered awards, as well as an enthusiastic following, with dance tours throughout cities, museums, and other spaces. For this evening they have culled a wide variety of performers to present shorts in a myriad of styles, including a tap duet from Buckets and Tap Shoes, a solo piece by Justin Jones, and conceptual dance with Mad King Thomas. Cara Ann Krippner takes to the skies in an aerial piece inspired by her days as a gymnast, while Tina Flewellyn and her Hype Dance Troupe (with a live DJ) celebrate hip hop. These are just a few of the pieces planned in an event highlighting our diverse local dance scene. (Photo by Cameron Wittig)
